Trump''s Energy Cuts Punished Mostly Blue States. Red States
It is uncertain whether or when the Energy Department might go through with this additional wave of cuts, and the leaked list has set off a furious lobbying battle in Washington
Projects promoting hydrogen, electric vehicles, carbon capture and direct air capture are among the list of potential cuts from the Department of Energy, according to a leaked list reviewed by The Times.
The cuts include several long-duration battery storage projects to companies developing technology to support utilities in better storing power produced from renewable energy sources like solar and wind.
Some Republicans, however, urged the Energy Department to make cuts despite the potential economic hit to their states and districts, noting that many of the projects may be untenable even with the federal support. Sen. John Hoeven (R-N.D.) said he supports narrowing grant funding to “projects that are committed and are still viable.”
