India Adds Over 6,400 New 5G Base Stations in
India is continuing its rapid 5G expansion, adding more than 6,400 new 5G base transceiver stations (BTS) in September 2025,
According to official data, Uttar Pradesh leads in 5G expansion, with 8,451 villages equipped with base stations. It is followed by Maharashtra (6,910 villages), Rajasthan (5,393 villages), Bihar (4,601 villages), and West Bengal (4,521 villages), highlighting strong regional adoption.
Momentum remains steady – Monthly expansions above 4,000 since March show consistent operator drive toward nationwide 5G coverage. India continued to expand its 5G footprint in September 2025, deploying over 6,400 new 5G base transceiver stations (BTS), according to data from the Department of Telecommunications (DoT).
Further more than 4.6 lakh 5G Base Transceiver Stations (BTSs) have been installed in the country. The Government has taken several initiatives for proliferation of 5G services, which, inter alia, include the following: Assignment of sufficient spectrum for mobile services through auction.
